It was cheers all round last night (21 February), as Adele scooped two major gongs at the 2012 Brit Awards.
The singer, 23, received a standing ovation at London's O2 Arena when Kylie Minogue presented her with the gong for best British female solo artist.
"You look lovely. I feel like a drag queen!" an overwhelmed Adele told the Australian star as she collected her award.
It capped a triumphant comeback for Adele, who won an eye-popping six Grammys last week after taking time off due to severe throat problems, which threatened to end her career at its peak.
The singer ended up the Brits by picking up the best album award from George Michael, for her record-breaking release 21.
"Nothing makes me prouder than coming here with six Grammys ... I'm so proud to be British and flying the flag," she said, before being cut off by host James Corden to make way for a closing performance for Blur.
The move did not go down well, prompting Adele to flip her middle finger (a gesture she later apologised for) and prompting boos from the crowd.
But Blur, who picked up the award for outstanding contribution, soon lifted the mood again with their five-song set which re-lived the spirit of Brit pop, 15 years on from its prime.
