5 reasons why being creative will change your life

People think that they have to have written a novel, painted a portrait or taken an award-wining photo to be ‘creative’. This simply isn’t true. We are all creative in our own ways – and there’s always more we can do. It’s about seeing the world in another way – appreciating beauty where others might not see it – and doing things differently.

The first to blossom and the last to be harvested, Pink Lady® apples bask for longer in the sun – they are unique, they take their time. As such, there’s a distinct sense of anticipation and pleasure that comes from biting into one. It’s this sense of experiencing something in an alternative way that Pink Lady® wants to pass on. Here are five reasons why nurturing your creativity and seeing the world differently will improve all aspects of your life, from the brand’s resident psychologist, Professor Janet Reibstein.

Take a look at our 5 tips below plus, enter here to be in with a chance of winning a country getaway with photography course and a life coach session.

1. Don’t underestimate how creative you are already

You have to rethink what creativity means. It’s about being open to thinking about things in a new way, in a different way, in an individual way. Anything from taking a new route to work or adding new ingredients to an old recipe is creative – it’s new to you and means you’re experiencing things differently. Don’t underestimate the small creative things you do each day. Paying attention to them will help to create a new sense of self.

2. Creativity increases your resilience

It’s really important to keep trying out new things in order to increase your resilience should something unexpected happen. It enables you to get to know yourself better and learn to trust your own capabilities. By doing unexpected things – by choosing to test yourself – you’ll be much better equipped to deal with things when they take a surprising turn.

3. Get out of your comfort zone

People often stay within their comfort zone, not testing themselves and not really getting to know themselves. By taking risks and challenging yourself, you get to know yourself better – and the better you know yourself, the more you can rely on yourself. You can trust that you’ll be able to face new and sometimes difficult situations – because you never know what life is going to throw at you.

4. You’re increasing your mental capital

Picture your mind as a bank. By investing more, doing more and experiencing more, you become more valuable – you have more mental capital to spend in different ways. The only way you can achieve this is by doing new things, taking risks and putting yourself out there. Creativity makes you live differently. Suddenly you see how to both make and take opportunities.

5. It’s all about being curious

Make it a personal mission to be more curious within your life – ensure it’s an integral facet of your existence. If you come at life with a sense of curiosity rather than a sense of ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘I know it all already’, you’ll discover all kinds of things you never thought you could do.
