8 credible celebrity fragrances

celebrity-fragrances.jpg

With the news that Madonna is launching her own perfume, we thought it was high time we looked at some of the other celebrity fragrances on the market. These days every famous face from Tyra Banks to Tulisa have 'created' a perfume in an effort to crack the beauty market, and with their slightly cheesy connotations, celebrity perfumes are a bit of a guilty secret for beauty junkies (one Stylist staffer pretends the Kim Kardashian perfume stashed in her desk is by Chloe ). But some do actually smell good. So which star scents are worth a spritz, and which should be banished to the bargain bin for good? Here are our favourites...

Sarah Jessica Parker , Lovely

This truly changed the face of celebrity fragrance. Smelling of expensive roses, every last detail, from the bottle to the ad to the print campaign, bought luxury fragrance to the masses.

J-Lo, Glow

The first from the megabrand that is Jennifer lopez, this is a lot fresher than you might think and smells uplifting, with notes of grapefruit and jasmine (odd bottle notwithstanding).

Britney Spears, Curious

A cult favourite, people love this scent although they may not admit it and apparently it drives men wild! With notes of magnolia and vanilla, it's very sweet and feminine .

Gwen Stefani, Harajuku Girls fragrance collection

Although the packaging is quite cutesy, it references the Harajuki girls of Tokyo, which for a celebrity fragrance is quite an inspired angle.

Elizabeth Taylor, White Diamonds

The original celebrity fragrance, this smells expensive and luxurious with top notes of lily and tuberose.

Jennifer Aniston

Just like her minimal fashion style, Jen’s scent is fresh and minimal and lacks the ostentation that is rife in celebrity fragrance land.

Christina Aguilera, Royal Desire

Ignore the bottle, this is actually a lovely, sensual scent, in the manner of an Agent Provocateur - and apparently is inspired by Christina's childhood in Japan...

Anna Dello Russo

Ok she may not strictly be a celebroty – but she as the editor of Japanese Vogue and the world’s most prolific fashion plate, ADL’s scent is a quirky triumph – it smells of fresh winter cookies, with notes of vanilla and almond.
