Barbie gets a fashion week makeover by the legendary Pat McGrath

Capture.PNG

We’re not going to lie, of all the beauty gurus on Instagram we’ve never looked to Barbie for makeup tips. That was until Pat McGrath got her hands on her.

The legendary make-up artist gave Mattel’s icon a Paris Fashion Week makeover in a series of four hand-painted dolls inspired by the runways and debuted on both her and Barbie’s Instagram accounts.

The first look saw an auburn haired doll with a sleek ponytail and eyes bejewelled with Swarovski crystals, her lips an enviable shade of purple.

In our favourite look, Barbie goes full Shoreditch with a septum piercing – a far cry from the blonde-locked stepford wife-esque doll of the past. An extreme cat-flick eye is complimented by a glitter lip, which would be badass on its own.

In homage to the blue hues we’ve seen on the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2016, the third Barbie rocks bright blue eyeshadow with a yellow wing feature above one eye. In a nod to countouring, McGrath takes it to the next level by haloing Barbie’s face. It’s all topped off with a red lip and daring undercut.

The last of the dolls is comparatively subtle, but still pretty striking, with a thick teal winged eye and matte nude lip.

No points for guessing whose Instagram we just started following.
