Beauty blogger applies a full face of make-up in the middle of giving birth

Those who grumble about women applying make-up on the tube, may prefer to look away now. A beauty blogger has shown how she put a full face on - including false eyelashes - in the middle of giving birth.

Alaha Majid, a make-up artist from New York, shared her unusual method of managing labour pain in a series of eye-opening Instagram posts.

Laying in a hospital bed with a dizzying array of brushes, sponges and palettes on the bed tray in front of her, the 27-year-old is seen blending and contouring as she brings her daughter into the world.

"I was pausing during contractions and picking up where I left off once the contractions passed," she told her 77,000 followers as she posted pictures three weeks on from the happy day.

Despite the sprawling beauty kit in front of her, Majid says, "I only packed some of my favourite products."

Majid's husband provided moral support above and beyond handholding - he's seen taking over contouring duties when the contractions get too strong:

Majid posted this photograph of the finished result - and her daughter Sofia. Check out that precision liquid eyeliner:
