Iris Apfel for MAC

The self-proclaimed ‘geriatric starlet’ makes her vibrant make-up debut – shrinking violets need not apply

Age is but a number, and as if more proof were needed Iris Apfel – New York socialite and style icon - hit the big 90 this year and the world took note. This collaboration with Mac is the ultimate coalesce of minds, following a year of incredible, yet unconventional collaborations for the brand, ranging from cult artist Cindy Sherman to fashion pack favourite Daphne Guinness and British designer Gareth Pugh.

The collection itself revels in Apfel’s love of acid bright lipsticks, with matching nail shades adding a polished edge to the assertive affair. But it’s the sentiment of living your life boldly and unswervingly that makes these technicolour hues so exceptional. If we’re honest, we could all use a little Iris in our lives.

The Irish Apfel Collection launches in January 2012 exclusively at maccosmetics.co.uk
