Of all the celebrity fragrances out there, here's one to get truly excited about. Madonna is launching her first ever perfume, and calling it 'Truth or Dare by Madonna', it was announced today.
The singer has tried her hand at many career paths over the years - acting, directing, modelling, writing children's books, collaborating with Lourdes on her Material Girl clothing line - but the beauty industry has remained unchartered territory to her, until now.
Speaking to Women’s Wear Daily, Madonna said, "I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me but that other people could relate to as well. Something honest, and yet daring, hence the name Truth or Dare.”
So what to expect from the Queen of Pop's first scent? According to Coty, Truth or Dare (bottle pictured above) will be a "signature floral fragrance" with a "unique blend of narcotic florals, balanced with addictive woods and vanilla, creates a scent that is timeless, yet contemporary, simultaneously dark and light". The white bottle with its angular shape and gold top, will also make a striking addition to any dressing table.
The ad campaign with be created in collaboration with Fabien Baron of Baron & Baron, who the star worked with on the controversial Sex, her 1992 pictorial essay on sexuality, so expect some explosive campaign shots.
Michele Scannavini, the President of Coty Prestige said of the collaboration “Her fans around the world have an unparalleled devotion and will be eager to experience a unique, and more personal, materialization of her talent".
You'll have to wait until May 2012 to see what Madonna's 'talent' smells like, but if you're visiting the US next year, the scent will debut exclusively at Macy's in April.
