Marc Jacobs is already a master of scent with ten different perfumes (and a new fragrance, Dot, is to be launched this August), as well as three fashion lines, but is now set to enter the world of cosmetics.
The American designer is developing his own make-up line which will be produced by cosmetics giant Sephora. But it is still in the early planning stages with no official launch date.
Jacobs told WWD "I see make-up, fragrance - everything, really - as an opportunity. The idea of choosing a colour for your lip, or an eyeliner - it's just such a delight. The ritual of waking up and making those choices is something people really enjoy."
Stylist’s beauty writer Anita Bhagwandas comments: “With his colourful aesthetic and sleek attention to detail, I’m excited about the new line by Marc Jacobs. But I’m also hoping he veers towards the covetable packaging and luxe shades, rather than the more playful nature of his personality.”
Marc Jacobs is joining a host of established designers with cosmetics lines, including Chanel, YSL and Dior. Jacobs' make-up line will follow the successful launch of cosmetics collections by Burberry (July 2010) and Tom Ford (September 2011).
