Natalie Portman just shared her £10 beauty secret with the world

natalie portman beauty secrets.jpg

Natalie Portman is one of the most talented and intelligent film stars in Hollywood today. A veritable polyglot, she’s studied English, Hebrew, Spanish, German and Japanese – and she’s never been afraid to speak up, in any language, to call out the patriarchy and defend women’s rights.

As well as her plethora of talents, though, Portman is famed for giving good face (which is probably why designer beauty brand Miss Dior was so keen to snap her up as an ambassador). And now, in a frank interview about all things beauty, the Jackie actor has revealed the secret to her clear, smooth skin.

And, if you think you have to fork out eye-watering prices for the type of cult products favoured by Hollywood’s elite, think again. Because Portman prefers to pick up her beauty bits from the high street.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar US, Portman explained that she is a fan of “double-cleansing” before bed. Which means that she likes to use two different products to make sure every last trace of make-up is removed before her head hits the pillow at night.

“I use Bioderma make-up remover,” she says, referring to the very same micellar water that sells for £10.80 at Boots.

The ultra-mild product – which has been formulated for sensitive, normal to dry skins – gently cleanses the face and eyes to remove even water-resistant make-up.

“The micelles contained in its formula effectively micro-emulsify impurities while maintaining the skin’s balance,” boasts the product description.

And it seems as if Portman isn’t the only one who’s a fan: a bottle of the first-of-its-kind product sells every five seconds worldwide.

Portman’s regime doesn’t stop there, of course: she also uses a cleansing wash by Joëlle Ciocco, the cult facialist of Paris – which is somewhat less purse-friendly at around £52 a pop.

If you’re tempted to try it, we recommend the Gentle Cleansing Cream, which contains vitamin E, neroli essential oil, marshmallow and saponin flowers. These all-natural ingredients promise to boost muscular tissues, give your skin an antioxidant boost and cleanse away everything from sun cream to mascara.

Double-cleansing complete, Portman then likes to apply “a rose oil or a moisturising mask that I got from a French pharmacy” to lock in moisture overnight. Ah, the good old French pharmacy – also known as the ultimate skincare destination.

While we don’t know the exact brand she is discussing, we suggest you give Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil a try. This nourishing pre-cleanse facial oil is formulated with avocado and carrot oils (both rich in vitamins), as well as hydrating Raspberry oil, which is known for its high omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids content.

And it’s £14.99 – slightly cheaper (albeit less fun) than a trip to Paris.
