One minute video captures the evolution of beauty looks in the last 100 years

A fascinating new video shows just how much female hair and make-up has changed in the last century.

The time-lapse video, which is impressively just over one-minute long, captures the beauty looks that summarise each decade in the last 100 years, from the elegant curls of 1910 to how we styled our hair in 2010.

It comes from creative YouTube channel Cut Video, who used a model and two hair and make-up artists to show how beauty ideals have evolved over the years.

The best looks, some would argue, come half way from the elegantly coiffed pin-up hair of the 1940s to the Old Hollywood curls and glamorous make-up of the 1950s and the mod look of the 60s featuring a beehive and pastel-coloured make-up.

The 1970s are captured through the bouncy waves famously worn by Farrah Fawcett at the time and the 1980s are a back-combed crimped look.

As the video nears the present the looks gradually become more relaxed from the long, straight hair and bare faced make-up of the 1990s to the grunge smokey eye and dishevelled hair of 2000.

Hasn't beauty come a long way? Take a look at the video below.
