Stylist readers get a night to remember

A lucky group of Stylist readers got to visit the London studios of ghd, the professional hair-care brand, on Tuesday 17 December. It was something of a coup, given it’s the first time ghd has opened its doors to the public.

Guests were hosted by Stylist beauty director Evie Leatham, who quizzed legendary hair stylist, Sam McKnight, live on stage. Sam, ghd’s global creative director, opened up on an illustrious 30-year career, which has seen him style the iconic locks of the likes of Princess Diana, Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss, Madonna and Lady Gaga. And talk about being one of the chosen few: Sam was even responsible for pinning raw beef to Gaga’s mane when she sported the infamous meat outfit.

Sam also offered guests exclusive tips and tricks on how to create the hottest hair looks this party season and demonstrated a key hair trend for S/S14, as seen on the Marios Schwab catwalk. Using the new ghd eclipse® styler, which boasts breakthrough and patented tri-zone® technology, Sam showed how to turn thick, wavy hair into super sleek locks, pinned into a beautiful, modern plait/ponytail hybrid.

The lucky Stylist readers in attendance topped off the evening by having their hair styled by a member of the ghd art team, who can usually be found backstage at some of the most highly anticipated London Fashion Week shows. The girls from Wah Nails were also on hand to add a festive sparkle to guest’s nails, as complementary canapés and drinks were served.
