Striking up 'dos inspired by Fashion Week

Naeem Khan.jpg

The fashion world is alight with creative hair ideas right now, as stylists backstage at London, New York, Milan and Paris work their magic for the SS18 shows.

While some Fashion Week hair ‘dos are too fantastical to re-create, others hit the mark when it comes to a simple, chic and on-point look.

Luckily, the forthcoming season is a rich source of inspiration for the latter.

Catwalks across the sphere are brimming with coolly modern styles that have an effortless, almost accidental air about them.

Find out how to master your own version of SS18’s hottest hair trends...

The nape-of-the-neck twist

High chignons are outre on the catwalks.

Instead, it’s all about a casual, low-sitting twist.

Sophia Webster’s London presentation exactly captured this look, with softly romantic nape-of-the-neck buns.

Not quite messy chignons, this up ‘do is nevertheless deliberately carefree.

Loose wisps play around the bun and the front of the head, creating movement and a nonchalant feel.

The sparkling ear cuff is optional, but it does create a lovely finishing touch.

Over at Badgley Mischka in New York, the look developed a more groomed element.

The chignon is still low here, but with a cultivated, high-shine finish that is framed by a distinctive central parting:

The under-done ponytail

A modern, breezy and low-lying ponytail was a clear trend at New York Fashion Week this season.

Victoria Beckham models pulled the look off with blitheness, with a relaxed and very wearable pony ending in soft strands of texture.

Backstage at Baja East, we saw ponytail that began taut and structured around the crown before descending into an element of undone-ness; the visual answer to a carefree shrug.

You can’t go wrong with this look; simply gather your hair into a low central pony, leaving the elastic exposed. Run your fingers through, or use a dash of backcombing for soft fluffs of texture.
