Winter hands SOS

sb10066505e-001.jpg

The freezing cold weather mixed with the drying central heating can wreak havoc on your hands, causing cracked, weak nails, dry skin and unslightly splits. Sound familiar? Fear not, as we're on hand with expert advice to restore your digits to their baby-soft best.

• Massage Vitamin E cuticle oil into your cuticles everyday. This will banish hang nails, dry skin and help nourish and hydrate your cuticles.

• Nailcare experts nails inc’s (who are celebrating their launch at Selfridges Trafford) recommend carrying their luxurious Caviar Hand Cream (£15) in your handbag and applying it daily – the caviar extract is perfect for providing intensive moisturisation to dry winter hands.

• Swap your standard base coat for a treatment one such as nails inc’s A&E (£17) or OPI's Nail Envy (£14.35); this will help nourish weak, brittle, dry or damaged nails.

• If your hands and nails are desperately dry then try an overnight glove treatment such as Body Shop’s Thirsty Hands Moisture Gloves (£7) or Bliss's Glamour Gloves (£35.23).

• Make time to groom your nails regularly. Expert Leighton Denny says "nails may be small but they have a big impact on your look and the impression you make". His Crystal File Totally Groomed Kit (£24.76) contains everything you need.
