In-flight fiction; the very best books to read on the plane, based on your holiday destination

books.jpg

There's nothing like a bit of thematic in-flight reading to enhance that delicious anticipation of heading abroad.

Books based within a particular destination are fuel to our wanderlust, whether that's the evocative romance of Greece captured in Captain Corelli's Mandolin or the escapist hedonism of Thailand portrayed by Alex Garland's The Beach.

Sure, we can reach for the in-flight magazine. But a good work of fiction can capture a sense of place like nothing else, meaning we really lose ourselves in the visceral imagery of Harper Lee's Alabama or E.M Forster's Florence.

So you can imagine our delight when we chanced across a new infographic that pulls together beautifully the different books you should be reading on the plane, depending on where in the world you are headed.

Motorcycle Diaries

The Motorcycle Diaries captures the history and spirit of South America

The design from Fly Abu Dhabi recommends a best-selling book for a whole host of holiday destinations, from Colombia to Jamaica and France.

Each read featured comes with a lovely little blurb, plus a key showing the concentration levels required (crucial when you're wedged into the middle seat of an economy flight), the author and whether or not the book has been made into a film.

Come take a look below, and get set to sit back, relax and ramp up holiday excitement in the best way possible:
