We saved Harry Potter’s butt (a lot) with the smart-as-a-whip Hermione Granger, and defeated the Trunchbull with Matilda Wormwood. We started a revolution with Katniss Everdeen, drove vampires out of town with Esme Weatherwax, ventured through the wardrobe with Lucy Pevensey, and plenty more besides.
Each has inspired us in a different way, each has challenged us to do our very best, and each has burst forth from the page over the years to become as real to us as any living person.
