There was laughter, whoops of approval, some stellar writing advice and at least 10 smashed glasses...

We're talking, of course, about Stylist's inaugural book club with award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, which took place on May 29 last month.

The event was a sell-out success, as a crowd of 250 Adichie enthusiasts flocked to London's Waldorf Astoria hotel to hear the author read from her new book Americanah and share a few pearls of literary wisdom (with fine wine, canapés and a free copy of the book along the way).

But if you missed out on the soirée, fear not: we've got all the video highlights right here.

Tune in to watch Adichie, 36, talk about everything from character creation to feminism, Beyonce and how Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o has won film rights to her latest book...

Read more about the event here or tweet @StylistMagazine #Stylistbookclub.
