50 black dresses under £100

The black dress is an iconic garment.

It's the item every woman should have in her wardrobe. It's perfect for when she's got nothing else to wear and when it's the only thing she wants to wear. Whatever the occasion, you really can't go wrong with it.

Coco Chanel can take credit for the origins of the dress in the 1920s and from then it took on a life of its own. From Holly Golightly's classic Givenchy gown in Breakfast at Tiffany's to Liz Hurley's risqué Versace dress, we've had a love affair with the LBD for decades.

As it's so important, we felt the need to look for 50 dresses that you can wear to any occasion, all of which are under £100. To paraphrase Jay Z, you might have 99 problems but a black dress ain't one.
