What you wear says something about who you are. That’s why New Look is championing people that own their look with its new spring/summer 2017 collection. The brand’s new ‘My Life, My Style, My Look’ campaign celebrates style leaders who express their individuality, personality and uniqueness through fashion. Starting with DJ and radio presenter Rowena Lewis.
I’m a radio presenter, DJ and freelance writer. My days can be quite chaotic, starting with my morning show ‘Riot Diet’ at Boogaloo Radio, it’s all about championing women. If there’s not at least one female in the band, they won’t get played on my show. I also talk about things like pop culture and recent news stories and discuss the impact of them on women, from a feminist viewpoint
I love having freedom of expression and choice when piecing together an outfit in the morning; it prepares me for the day ahead. Style can be quite powerful; I think of it as an art form, it’s a great way of self-expression. The media is an industry still dominated by men, so what I wear reflects my attitude – I like to break the rules a little bit, and it was great to bring this ethos to London Fashion Week with New Look. I try to stand out with a bold colour or a logo T-shirt.
It’s like Sixties space girl mixed with a disco ball, which obviously as a DJ, I love. Layering metallic pieces is a great way to make a statement; it works perfectly with the lighting when I’m doing a set. I’m a fan of the current gingham trend and comfort is important when I’m running from studio to club, so these shoes are ideal.
