African style arrives at ASOS

beadeddrapejoined.jpg

It may be September, but that lingering chill in the air is a constant reminder that winter is just around the corner. If you’re in need of some key pieces to perk up your cold weather wardrobe look no further than the second ASOS Africa collection, launching this month.

Produced in collaboration with Soko and several small communities in Africa, the second collection uses a patchwork of prints to achieve a sporty feel with heavier fabrics for the colder months.

Showcasing 15 styles, the collection uses traditional African fabrics and exclusively designed kitenge fabrics to create great fashion shapes such as printed paper bag skirts, wrap dresses, figure-hugging maxis, dungarees and skater skirts.

Beautiful cotton modal from South Africa appears across a mix of print pocket tees, which are further embellished in traditional beadwork techniques, hand-crafted by the team at Soko in Kenya.

Each piece comes packaged in its own pouch made from kanga fabric with a handmade coconut button fastening.

With producer groups based in Kenya, Tanzania and now South Africa, the ASOS Africa range is PAN African and dedicated to help maintain sustainable solutions.

Prices are (thankfully) payday friendly, starting at a mere £25.

Open our online gallery for a rummage through the collection.
