Christian Louboutin's wild side

Best known for his red-soled pumps, shoe designer Christian Louboutin is hitting the headlines again this week for his crazy ‘lion paw’ heels.

Named the ‘Alex’, the stiletto heels are fashioned into a lion’s paw around the toe and are completed with crystalized ‘talons’. The whacky design was first spotted back in August when worn by Sarah Jessica Parker at the I Don’t Know How She Does It Premiere in Moscow.

This week also saw Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, a close personal friend of Louboutin, sporting a pair whilst filming on set. Costing £3,195 per pair, it’s not hard to see why her New-York socialite character Serena van der Woodsen would be a fan.

The publicity surrounding the shoes will be welcome news for Christian Louboutin, who has been locked in a court battle with fashion-house YSL. The two brands have been going head-to-head over Louboutin’s trademark red soled shoes.
