Exclusive: fashion make-over for M&S

Known as the reliable bastion of the British high street rather than a purveyor of cutting edge design, this season Marks and Spencer is set for a high fashion make-over, as these shots from the stores' latest campaign reveal.

Shot by the world-class fashion photographer Rankin and styled by Way Perry of Wonderland magazine, the print advertising campaign for the Limited Collection showcases up-and-coming models Sophie Byron, Suki Waterhouse and Louise De Chevigny wearing an array of mid-sixties-inspired looks, from A-line hems to silk shifts – all key trends for A/W 2011. The black and white images feel edgy, sexy and cool and are a departure from previous campaigns featuring Twiggy and Myleene Klass.

These images aren’t the only way the store is upping the fashion stakes this season - Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and male supermodel David Gandy are also joining the M&S “family” and fronting the Autograph and Collezione collections. ABOVE: The knitted cape (£39.50) has been given "a youthful twist to a traditional shape, making it a must have wardrobe staple for the season" according to Helen Low, M&S Head of Design.

All Limited Collection products will be available in stores and online from the 1st September 2011.
