In the fashion world, we’re always working one season ahead. Which is why even though we haven’t had Christmas yet, and you’d probably rather wrap up in a statement jumper than even think about Spring, most of the fashion press are currently attending press days – where they get to preview the designer and high street Spring/Summer collections long before they hit the shops. Marks and Spencer are holding theirs tomorrow. But today, we’re offering you an exclusive first look at their Spring/Summer collection before anyone else gets to see it.
The womenswear at Marks and Spencer has been getting stronger each season, and for Spring/Summer, the design team have honed in on five key catwalk trends, and reinterpreted them into wearable pieces for work and play – Print Fusion, with its oriental florals and colour blocked sequins; Mono Pop, starring 1960s shapes and bold stripes that were all over the runways; Urban Utility, a relaxed take on the utility trend; Modern Luxe, sporty, but sophisticated tailoring and Doll’s House, featuring ladylike broderie anglaise, pretty pastels and coloured lace.
We’ve already earmarked several pieces for our wardrobe (the beige Modern Luxe peacoat, the Print Fusion metallic pencil skirt, and Doll’s House lace dress, in case you’re wondering) – and we think you’ll love this new collection just as much as us. So browse the hero pieces from the Marks and Spencer Spring/Summer 2013 collection lookbook below, for a glimpse at what we’ll be wearing next season.
