Fashion Blog: Barbie time at Moschino

Following a day of flat heels and feminine, '70s looks, Moschino hit us with full-on frothy glamour in the form of real-life Barbies.

Stylist's Executive Fashion Editor Kitty McGee, Shopping Editor Lucy Reber and Acting Fashion Director Sorrel Kinder are reporting on the SS15 trends at Milan Fashion Week.

MOSCHINO: It's a Barbie world

A hot-pink clad '80s Barbie girl was Jeremy Scott's SS15 vision for Moschino in a show that focused heavily on the plastic doll's extensive accessory collection:

Every accessory a Moschino Barbie could ever need:

Hours after the Barbie bonanza hit the runway, Moschino made the collection available to buy online. We've got our eye on the £44 iPhone case in the shape of a pink Barbie mirror.

1. Denim - it's no longer just for dress-down Fridays.

On the catwalk at Gucci, Fendi and Alberta Ferretti:

2. Heels are out - if Milan is doing flats, they're definitely the look for summer‎. Our favourites were the trainers at Emporio Armani or gladiator sandals as at Alberta Feretti:

3. Our favourite place in Milan for pasta is Paper Moon:

4. Cara Delevingne's favourite pizza is margherita :

5. We're all still utterly obsessed with Barbies. And Barbie's stuff. And thanks to Moschino we can buy it all online:

DSQUARED2: All about volume

Colour blocking, bold, cartoon-like prints and outfits with serious volume formed Dsquared2's punchy SS15 collection. Identikit bespectacled models with neat ponytails clashed with their outlandish outfits - huge raffia mini dresses, feathery skirts, leather polo shirts.

Denim, once again, made an appearance, as did summer leather. But the feminine, boho, feel and flat shoes seen at many of Milan's shows so far were nowhere in evidence - graphic prints and high heels all the way.

Boyfriend jeans at DSquared2:

JUST CAVALLI: Star shades

Bows, Victoriana collars, '70s tailoring, dungarees and neck scarves lent a seriously rock' n roll edge to Just Cavalli this afternoon. Jeans also made another appearance.

And we're obsessed with the star sunnies!

Dungarees next spring/summer, anyone?

FENDI: More 3D floral

Sightings of her have been rare on the runway this season but Cara opened the show at Fendi in Milan this afternoon. She was followed down the runway by Georgia May Jagger, ‎Sam Rollinson, Joan Smalls, Binx Walton and Malaika Firth,

Leather mini skirts with 3D floral cut-out detail accompanied more botanical prints, while futuristic cat-eye sunglasses also made an appearance at the show.

Although there were some very girly, pastel looks, the main collection was less-so; summer leather with cut-out detail featured heavily, as did suede. Sporty joggers and pleats worked well alongside boxy, short-sleeved shirts and pretty make-up balanced the overall look nicely.

Denim also made a showing - as it did at Gucci, Emporio Armani, Fendi & at Alberta Feretti - unusual for the city that many associate with formalwear and polished eveningwear.

These Karl Lagerfeld sketches were on guests' seats at the Fendi show today in Milan:

Emporio Armani: Sporty stripes, sweatshirts and hi-tops

In the most casual collection from Emporio in seasons, we saw the brand embrace trainers, cropped tops, sweatshirts and nautical jackets and stripes.‎ Jeans also featured in the collection while other highlights included the structured mini bags‎ and the tailored shorts.

Max Mara: A feminine and polished ‎aesthetic

Floral and geometric and prints with great midi skirts over boots‎, although we're not sure we could quite pull off those cloche hats. We saw some military influences at Max Mara, something that we also saw at Marc Jacobs in New York and again at Gucci yesterday.

Anna Wintour and Amy Adams, Max Mara's new accessories spokeswoman, on the frow:

GUCCI: Epic accessories

Gucci launched its inaugural cosmetics line on the ss15 runway but our eyes were glued to the epic accessories that accompanied every look. Seventies eyewear adorned the girls' minimally made-up faces while the suede knee-length boots and messenger bags are sure to be sell-outs.

There was a slight boho feel, with fur gillets and loose dresses but being Gucci it was a lot chicer than the boho we have known before, even putting denim on the catwalk didn't stop the show from looking sleek. The trousers were wide legged but cropped at the calf, giving it an overall '70s feel. There were no long evening gowns - instead shorter evening dresses made for a more modern feel.

On the Gucci Frow:

Anna Wintour, Kate Moss and Charlotte Casiraghi:

No. 21: Relevant and wearable

This was a great show with a feeling of Isabel Marant, Dries Van Noten and Marni all rolled into one. There were modern embellishments, sheer baby doll dresses, chiffon plaid-check shirts worn with bottle green pencil skirts, giving it a slight rock feel. Accessories included nude and clear sunglasses, mules (as seen in a few shows now) and small over-the-body bags.

ALBERTA FERRETTI: It's all about fringing and 3D flowers

Specifically leather and suede fringing, on ‎everything from sandals to messenger bags, jackets, dresses‎ and capes. We've seen fringing throughout the ss15 shows but no designer has adopted the trend as wholeheartedly as at Ferretti.

The bohemian collection was fUll of sheer, chiffon pieces with applique flowers and largely with a 3D ‎effect - some delicately embroidered while others were applique leather.

‎The designer also showed denim jeans, skirts and dresses as Gucci did earlier today - another trend in the making we think!
