Giorgio Armani takes inspiration from the sea

An opening short by an Oscar-winning director, a couture mermaid and a collection inspired by the sea at Giorgio Armani.

Stylist's Executive Fashion Editor Kitty McGee, Shopping Editor Lucy Reber and Acting Fashion Director Sorrel Kinder are reporting on the SS15 trends at Milan Fashion Week - read their blog here.

Giorgio Armani: All-natural

The show opened with a short film that Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino made specially for Armani. Depicting an island escape, waves washed over pebbles as a sleeping couple lay entangled on a beach.

As the clothes appeared it became apparent that Mr Armani had taken inspiration from all things natural. Stone greys, organic prints and sea spray light fabrics.

Everything was in muted tones and in the best of taste, as you would expect. Collarless jackets worn with loose long skirts, sheer culottes worn with draped chiffon tunics and multi-tiered dresses all floated by worn with fashion feet-pleasing flat lace-ups and trainers.

The show's finale saw a bare-footed, bejewelled crowned model traipse down the catwalk in a sparking gossamer creation, just before a serene Armani took his bow.
