Back to London - with a Marni investment in mind.
Stylist's Executive Fashion Editor Kitty McGee, Shopping Editor Lucy Reber and Acting Fashion Director Sorrel Kinder are reporting on the SS15 trends at Milan Fashion Week.
It was hard to leave the Marni show without an extensive shopping list swimming in your head. Suddenly what you were wearing didn't seem quite right, it wasn't fresh, dynamic or well, 'new season Marni' enough.
The show opened with an array of neutral and monochrome looks. Zip up summer coats and midi skirts with asymmetric hems were cinched with cotton belts reminiscent of a karate masters black belt. Fabrics were natural and heavy looking, sheer and delicate and printed. Bold painterly prints, blown out pastels and leaf motifs ruled.
Intricate detail was also key. Painted tailored leathers, multi textured patchwork ensembles and 3D embellishment were all in evidence. And so came the colour - yellows, greens and metallic silver.
The finale pieces - panelled and adorned with cotton ruffles, outsized Paillettes and floral patterned beading were a feast for the eyes.
So now the editors are back in London, trying to create the effect for themselves... We might just have to wait till summer and invest in a little piece of Marni magic for ourselves.
