First Look: M&S autumn/winter collection

Marks & Spencer has revamped its fashion over the past few seasons, cleverly distilling the catwalk’s more avant-garde looks into sharp tailoring that actually suits real life. And, excitingly, Stylist has been given an exclusive first look at the new autumn/winter collection, meaning you get a sneak preview of the covetable range, available from the end of July.

The collection highlights all the key a/w 2012 catwalk trends with Kate Bostock, Marks & Spencer’s executive director of general merchandise, describing the mood of the new season as “seductively darker, with the combination of sumptuous fabrics and intricate textures and embellishments creating an opulent and dramatic look”.

With the first drop of pieces landing in store and online on 26 July, get ready to head over to the dark side with structured fabrics, graphic prints and metallic finishes featuring heavily. Die-hard fashion fans will love the raspberry brocade trouser suit – a key buy for a/w, while classic favourites such as the black top and pencil skirt have been given a new season lift in slick wet-look leather and opulent print. Top of our shopping list will be this graphic Seventies print dress with a Peter Pan collar. Like all M&S’ finest collections, this will sell out fast. So make a date to snap it up first…
