First look: Somerset by Alice Temperley at John Lewis - Fashion - Stylist Magazine

Named after the south west county Temperley calls home, Somerset by Alice Temperley has been designed exclusively for John Lewis and marks the British fashion designer’s first foray into a collaboration with high street brand.

Renowned for her sumptuous and feminine designs – think pretty embellishments, delicate lacework and luxe fabrics – Temperley fans will be pleased to hear that Alice did not skimp on the details when it came to the Somerset range.

Far from it; Temperley hallmarks such as the military details, Victoriana ruffles and lace are all there, alongside sleek leather skirts and jackets, cosy capes, and punchy animal prints running across shoes, jumpers and cover-ups. And, of course, we couldn’t not mention those forever-gorgeous dresses (the spotty black silk dress and ivory silk dress with black lace trim are just two of our favourites) – a much-loved Temperley design signature.

Speaking about her new John Lewis range, Alice Temperley explained: “I wanted it to be very much a collection of essentials and to design a collection that would provide a feminine and functional wardrobe for women in their everyday life.” Continuing, she said: “This collection is all encompassing, effortless and draws on our classics.”

With the Somerset by Alice Temperley campaign modelled by fellow Brit Lily Donaldson, this very British collaboration is destined to be every bit as successful as Team GB at the Olympics.
