One of Britain’s most beloved high-street brands turns 40 this year and, to celebrate, Reiss has launched a new collection: a limited-edition higher-end capsule range.
Reiss’ credentials have soared recently thanks to their flawless interpretation of each season’s trends as well as the backing of one very influential woman – Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton – who has worn Reiss dresses for everything from her engagement photo to meeting the Obamas (Reiss’ ‘Shola’ dress in camel, £175, should you be interested). But this new range is sure to give the label even more fashion kudos.
The brand’s new collection takes us back to 1971: when the label was launched. Inspired by glamorous Seventies style icons such as Jerry Hall and Bianca Jagger, the collection pays homage to the trend details of the decade such as flared, tailored trousers, fedoras and glossy flowing maxi dresses. And with a/w 2011 channelling a more uptown New Yorker Seventies feel (as opposed to summer nights at Studio 54), the collection feels fresh.
The coats are undoubtedly the highlight. From the large lapelled Lilac Cherry, to the classic beige Fern trench and shearling Ivana, it’s almost impossible to pick a favourite.
