Fans of Hello Kitty rejoice; the cartoon feline will soon be gracing a new high fashion range from designer Yohji Yamamoto.

Yamamoto, who has previously collaborated with brands including Hermes and Mikimoto, announced that his newest line will include t-shirts, polo shirts, jackets and sweatshirts adorned with Hello Kitty illustrations.

The designer, who is best known for his loose fitting silhouettes and penchant for flat shoes, has won numerous awards for his contributions to fashion, including the Master of Design Award from Fashion Group International.

He has also been awarded as a Royal Designer for Industry, which is regarded as the highest honour that can be obtained for design in the UK, and has dressed celebrities including Elton John and Tina Turner.

The new brand, which will be called Kitty’s, is a collaboration with Hello Kitty’s parent company Sanrio. It will initially be dropping in two stores in Japan this spring with prices ranging from £48.76 ($72.50) to £221.95 ($330), and there are plans for expansion of the brand to include backpacks, baseball caps and iPhone cases.

The new line is following in the footsteps of a whole host of recent fashion collaborations. In December last year Japanese powerhouse Commes des Garcons released a Frozen line in honour of the blockbuster Disney film.

And let’s not forget the Kanye West x Adidas Originals line that launched on the runway at New York Fashion Week last February but left daughter Nori West spectacularly unimpressed
