As the sun comes out, we tend to start thinking about our summer wardrobe. OK, we lied. We actually start planning what we're going to wear for the warmer months around January, but there are always a few last minute bits we need to get. And the item we nearly always forget to buy? Sunglasses, of course.

Only when that ball of gas is burning its rays into our eyes do we suddenly realise that we need something to protect our faces. Which means we inevitably end up running into the nearest shop and buying whatever they have just so we can see again.

But this year, we're going to decide what sort of shades we want (and therefore ensuring we look good) by picking some inspiration from this glasses infographic. The image was created by Pop Chart Lab and includes iconic shades as worn by Steve McQueen, Lady Gaga and Holly Golightly.

The meticulously illustrated chart also includes MC Hammer's oversized sunnies, and Jackie Kennedy Onasiss' classic round frames.

And if you're looking for some glasses inspiration, there's that too, with iconic pairs as worn by John Lennon, Benjamin Franklin and Tina Fey.
