Jewellery for foodies

Etsy is a wonderful place, with all manner of quirky and original things to admire and buy - including these astonishingly realistic looking pieces of jewellery. Made by Shay Aaron, they represent tiny, detailed food items ranging from cakes and croissants to pizza slices and sandwiches.

Aaron's work picks up on one of our favourite catwalk trends in recent seasons; Miuccia Prada started it all (as usual) with her banana earrings, and it continued with Dolce & Gabbana's models wearing pasta swirls in their ears. Fanciful and kitsch, the food-as-jewellery trend is fashion at its most playful and we love it.

Have a sweet tooth? Try this scarily real-looking pancake with butter and syrup necklace (mmm, syrup...), or some dainty pain au chocolate earrings.

Why not finish off an outfit with a pair of avocado earrings?

Or go for the junk food option with some pizza slices instead. Now we're really hungry.

This is just a small selection of what's on offer - see the full menu at etsy.com/shop/shayaaron
