Kate Moss leaves Storm Model agency after 28 years

Kate Moss is one of the most successful models of all time, and it all started 28 years ago, when she was discovered by Storm Model Management founder Sarah Doukas in New York's JFK airport aged just 14.

Since then, she's modelled for practically every major designer, including Chanel, Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana, starred on the cover of British Vogue no less than 30 times and has won countless awards for her modelling prowess.

But Moss has now decided to leave Storm Model Management after nearly 30 years of success.

A statement from the agency read: "After a successful 28 year relationship, Kate is moving her business in-house, and we will continue to maintain an active involvement in our on-going deals for her."

From now on, Moss will manage her many fashion collaborations, ventures and modelling commitments herself, collaborating with her longtime agency on an ad-hoc basis.

The agency represents a number of famous faces, including Carla Bruni, Cindy Crawford, Jourdan Dunn, Poppy Delevingne and Behati Prinsloo.

Moss shot to fame in the nineties as an example of "heroin chic", with her waifish figure and grungy photos providing a strong contrast to the supermodels of the day like Cindy Crawford and Elle Macpherson.

It was the Calvin Klein Obsession campaign that she shot at the age of 17 that propelled her to instant fame. Moss has previously spoken out about the shoot, saying that her boyfriend at the time, and the photographer of the shoot, Mario Sorrenti, was obsessed with getting the perfect photos of her.

“It was obsession,” she said in an interview. “I would wake up in the morning and he’d be taking pictures of me and I’d be like f*** off! And I lay like that for 10 days. He would not stop taking pictures of [me].

“We split up after that, because the thing is, when you’re in a relationship with a photographer and they start abusing that relationship of being like ‘I want you to do this and I want you to do that’… I didn’t want to work all the time.”

While Moss' profile has now been removed from the agency's website, her half-sister Lottie, 18, is still represented by them.

The move comes after Cara Delevingne left the agency in July 2015 after saying she wanted to focus on her acting career, although today she said she hadn't given up modelling for good.

Reports insist Kate's departure is amicable, and we have no doubt that the fashion legend will be just fine on her own.
