The 50 most memorable red carpet looks of 2014

To summarise 2014 in fashion we’d use two words; bright and elegant.

It was a stellar year for classic red carpet moments with Lupita Nyong'o and Victoria Beckham creating waves in simple but spectacular dresses.

There was a return to old-school glamour and sophistication and whether it was Kate Moss in a stunning Stella McCartney or Blake Lively in Gucci, the trend for classic, bold pieces dominated throughout the year.

Designers who specialise in clean lines and striking looks, from Oscar de le Renta to Stella McCartney, were the flavour of 2014 with their designs appearing on many of the year’s best dressed stars.
