From precious jewels to treasured dresses, mothers have been handing their prized possessions down to their daughters for centuries.
And the daughters of some of the most famous women in the world look set to one day inherit a veritable treasure trove of stunning pieces.
With Gwyneth Paltrow saving her most exquisite dresses for daughter Apple, and Kim Kardashian creating a complete archive containing every one of her favourite outfits for toddler North West, these are the most envy-inducing pieces A-listers will pass onto their offspring.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Apple Martin
Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is our kind of mother - she has owned so many beautiful dresses throughout her career that she began saving them for her future daughter 12 years before she was even born.
The collection features every gown the actress has worn to the Oscars throughout history. This includes the pale pink Ralph Lauren dress she wore to the Academy Awards in 1999, when she won Best Actress for her role in Shakespeare in Love.
Touchingly, Paltrow hopes her daughter Apple might someday wear the dress to her prom. "Maybe she’ll wear it to prom and do a Pretty in Pink thing and resew it and cut it up,” she tells People magazine.
Victoria Beckham and Harper Beckham
As a former Spice Girl who now runs her own fashion empire, we can only dream of the treasures Victoria Beckham must have in her wardrobe.
But it's not a designer handbag or expensive pair of heels that she has put aside for her daughter Harper to one day inherit. Rather, she is saving the dress she wore on her first date with David Beckham; a brown suede number she bought on the high street.
She says: "I couldn’t give away the dress I first wore when I went out with David. It was a little high-street suede mini dress, so I’ve kept that for her.”
Kim Kardashian and North West
Lucky North West is set to inherit not one, but two, wedding dresses from her famous mother Kim Kardashian.
The reality TV star has already begun to gather a "full archive" of clothes and accessories to pass down to her daughter, and recently told The Huffington Post, "I keep everything and put it in these clear plastic bags altogether with the shoes - the whole look of what I wore."
Included in this archive are both the strapless Lanvin wedding gown she wore on the cover of US Vogue, alongside husband Kanye West, and the lace Givenchy dress she wore for the pair's wedding.
Kate Moss and Lila Grace
As one of the world's biggest supermodels, who has walked down thousands of runways and been dressed by countless famed designers, Kate Moss is bound to have trunk-loads of exquisite clothes to hand down to her only daughter, Lila Grace.
Speaking to Interview magazine, the model says she is saving the clothes she no longer wears in her "dressing room in the country" to pass down to her daughter when she turns 16. The clothes are so alluring that Moss uses them as blackmail, saying, "Don't eat your dinner, and you won't get my clothes. You won't grow, and you won't get into my clothes."
The collection currently includes, "All those Pucci numbers and things that I wore when I was 17 that I won't really wear."
Jerry Hall and Georgia May Jagger
Georgia May Jagger has already inherited some beautiful pieces from her supermodel mother Jerry Hall.
"I inherited my mum’s Chanel jewellery from her modelling days, including lots of gold chains and costume jewellery. I like to wear all of it at once," she tells the Evening Standard.
