Her debut album went to no1 in nineteen countries, and now Youtube singing sensation Lana Del Ray has inspired the latest must-have Mulberry bag.
Ever since her hit Video Games was played at the Christopher Kane show last season, the fashion pack fell in love with Lana, and Mulberry's Creative Director Emma Hill was particularly enchanted - asking the singer to play at the fashion brands Pool Party.
Emma explains, ‘I love Lana’s nostalgic references to bygone glamour and the fact that her look is retrospective yet so modern. This inspired us to create a bag that was timeless, refined and elegant, yet with a beautiful practicality that would suit any woman.’
Just like other girl of the moment Alexa Chung, Lana's namesake bag the Del Rey is one the singer could actually be seen wearing, capturing her love of retro glamour. Launching in May and as part of the Mulberry A/W 12 collections showing today, the Del Rey comes in Deer Brown Grainy Print, Black Forest Soft Matte, Black Soft Spongy and Petrol Veg Tanned Lambskin leathers. Lana has said of the bags, ‘I love the design, a perfect mix between old school Hollywood and contemporary style. It’s an honour that such a classic and prestigious brand would name a bag after me.'
The Catwalk Collection, showing today at London Fashion Week, will feature additional styles in two new super-luxe leathers, Gold Large Metallic Snake Print and Ink Blue Sparkle Croc Print, Bark Brown Metallic Fur Print and Black Ostrich . There is also an Oversized Del Rey size in the Catwalk Collection.
