At Bridal Fashion Week, it’s fair to say that most designs, beautiful as they are, will generally not stray too far from the accepted norm. Lots of white, lots of big, flowy things and a fair amount of lace and beading.
However while we were busy getting excited about the new Disney designs and the like, another look was quietly making waves: introducing the leotard wedding dress (or swimsuit, as some have compared it to).
The gown, part of the Alon Livné White 2017 collection, is white, beaded, and with a flowing train, but that’s where the traditional box-ticking stops.
Yep, that’s a full-on, legs-out bodysuit. It’s a style called Heaven, and designer Livné, whose website says he trained at Alexander McQueen and Roberto Cavalli, told cosmopolitan.com: “I wanted to make something that is very showstopper, very unique, but still feminine and soft.”
He also debuted Venus, below, with cut-outs and splits up the thigh.
The designer revealed that if brides-to-be aren't a fan of the sheer look, the skirt of Heaven can be modified to provide more coverage (or whipped off entirely for a Beyoncé moment at the reception).
