Mary Watson's wedding dress

While most of us were watching Sherlock last night for the hilarious best man's speech, a good murder mystery and, er, Benedict Cumberbatch (come on), there was something else that caught our eye: Mary Watson's (née Morstan) wedding dress.

In fact, we loved it so much we just had to find out where it was from. The gown was made by none other than dress-making legend Jane Bourvis.

Bourvis hand-makes antique lace wedding dresses inspired by Twenties and Thirties silhouettes at her shop near London's Portobello Road.

You may recognise one of Bourvis' clients: Thierry Kelaart. She is a long-time friend of the Middleton family and in September 2012, the Duchess of Cambridge's father, Michael, walked Kelaart down the aisle in the absence of her father, who died when she was 10 years old. Bourvis designed Kelaart an elegant oyster-coloured lace wedding dress, featuring short sleeves, a V-neck line and a lace skirt with a silk slip underneath.

For more information on Jane Bourvis' dresses head to her website .
