Miu Miu casts a spell

Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble - Miu Miu's latest fashion film takes us to the witching hour.

The Woman Dress is the latest of the label's Women's Tales, a series of short films created by distinctive female film-makers that explore women's love affair with Miu Miu.

Following on from MUTA (Lucrecia Martel’s film noir filled with mutant fashion divas) and the dreamy The Powder Room by Zoe Cassavetes, Giada Colagrande's The Woman Dress is a slightly eerier affair.

Starring Italian actress Maya Sansa and set to a haunting soundtrack by cool pop trio Au Revoir Simone, the film shows a coven of elegant witches (all dressed in Miu Miu), surrounded by beautiful dresses, and gathered around a bubbling bathtub. Maya is led to the 'cauldron', where she pricks her finger (this is not one for the squeamish) and sacrifices her body to become a Miu Miu dress - 'the ultimate object of her desire'.

Not quite what we expected from a fashion video, the film reminds us of a very cool take on classic nineties witching caper The Craft, with a few nods to surreal cinema thrown in for good measure.
