This teen was bullied for her strong brows - but now they’ve launched her fashion career

Cara Delevingne has competition for the best brow accolade thanks to a new up-and-coming model.

Natalia Castellar's incredible arches have landed her campaigns with NARS and Mansur Gavriel, and she's yet to even sign to an agency. But the new face on the block has given a refreshingly honest interview about why the feature that thrust her to fame was her biggest insecurity growing up.

The 17-year-old from Peurto Rico spoke to W Magazine about how she's overcome the bullying she faced for her brows in order to see them as an asset.

“When I was younger they were all anyone would point out,” she told W Magazine. “I was bullied terribly because of how thick and long they were, so I wanted to shave them down."

Luckily, the teen has her mum to thank for keeping her trademark intact. "One day I was about to shave them until my mom interrupted me."

Looking back, she says she wishes she had overcome her insecurities sooner. "It wasn’t until thick brows started trending that I started feeling more confident. Now I don’t care if they stay trendy or not, I love my eyebrows. They set me aside from other models. They’re my trademark, and I wish I would have embraced them sooner.”

Castellar found fame through social media and Tumblr after her photographer sister Bianca uploaded photos of her online. And while the platforms have enabled her, they also enable a similar backlash to that she faced in her youth, thanks to negative commenters. But with her new found confidence the teen won't let it get to her.

"A lot of trolls leave nasty comments about my eyebrows, but I don't give in and respond, because that's what they want," she says. "I just disabled my notifications. I want my social media to stay as positive as possible!"
