Last week, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley launched her debut lingerie collection, Rosie for Autograph with Marks & Spencer, adding ‘underwear designer’ to a CV that already reads “supermodel, actress and person-Stylist-wants-as-a-body-double”.
Celebrity collaborations often raise ‘authenticity’ eyebrows but this is a smart move for both Rosie and Marks & Spencer. The UK lingerie market is currently worth £1.9billion and there’s no doubt among industry insiders that Rosie’s range – thanks to her international profile – will increase that figure by the end of 2012.
With an emphasis on floral designs and pastel colours (along with our favourite, the elegant, lace navy bra and G string set below), it’s a classic, well-thought out collection.
What’s more, following in a long line of celebrity underwear collaborations that include Helena Christensen for Triumph, Kelly Brook for New Look and, of course, the latest David Beckham line at H&M, the Rosie for Autograph collection is a serious contender to become our go-to range for affordable, pretty pieces
With more being added to the collection in mid-October, this might just be the right time to start paying more attention to the contents of our lingerie drawer.
