Sick of 2017 already? You need this “leave me alone” sweater

We may be a mere 10 days into 2017, but we’ve already had enough of January, with its tube strikes, sexist moments and a certain someone’s impending Presidency.

If you’re feeling the same, fear not, because we have found an ingenious solution: the 'leave me alone’ sweater.

Soft, warm and imbued with the magical power to make you literally unapproachable to anyone who dares try, this sweater is the answer to all of our new year woes.

Designed by Ruth Grace Wong, a Pinterest engineer from California, the sweater can be worn in three ways: as a cowl neck, off the shoulder or the classic ‘leave me alone’ mode.

On her Instructables page, Wong described the ‘leave me alone’ mode as “more of a statement than a functional piece of clothing”.

“I can't see anything through my sweater,” she warned.

But hey, maybe that’s the whole point?

The sweater can be worn three ways

Unfortunately you can't buy the sweater, but you can make your own. Wong has provided a handy step by step guide and only four items are required: a sweater, some fabric, a zipper and a bit of thread.

And as ever, the design can be adapted to suit your own tastes and requirements.

“If you find yourself using the leave me alone mode a lot, you could add eye holes,” Wong added.

Genius.
