Words: Sophie Henderson

Struggling to keep momentum on your quest to live that healthy lifestyle? Maintaining focus is far from easy, but fear not: our keep-fit kits have had a much-needed upgrade and could be that boost you’re looking for.

Whether a yogi, runner or spin queen, there’s plenty of clever integrated technology, second-skin fabrics and fitness aids on the market promising to amp up our exercise, so read on for nine of the brands going tech on our workouts.

1. Triumph Triaction

Triumph’s Triaction range offers bras to see you through all levels of activity. The collection is ‘extreme bounce control tested’ (accredited by an independent research group from the University of Portsmouth) and comes in various levels of support. From the non-metal wire to the extra thick multi-straps, sports bras just got an upgrade.

2. Bodyism Octavia leggings

Bodyism's innovative Octavia leggings are made from Emana fabric – according to the brand, when in contact with your skin it uses bio-active crystals in the microfibers to absorb body heat and promote collagen production. The fuss-free, slick design is appealing and they retain the comfort and easy movement of usual workout gear.

3. Adidas by Stella McCartney Ultra boost

Adidas by Stella McCartney Ultra Boost X Shoes are not only good for the environment, but they also aid your workout. Featuring yarn spun from reclaimed and recycled ocean waste, the Primeknit fabric gives strategic support, while the boost technology is Adidas’ most responsive cushioning yet – the more energy you give, the more you get.

4. Lululemon Nulux

Lululemon’s technical fabric Nulux promises to see you through the sweatiest of workouts and aims to retain comfort with a lightweight, easy-wear fabric. Nulux is designed to feel like a barely there second skin, to minimize distractions during your go-to yoga class or run.

5. Beats by Dre Powerbeats3 Wireless Headphones

Beats by Dre’s Powerbeats3 wireless headphones are sweat and water resistant for those runs in the rain. Five minutes of charge offers one hour of playback time, making them your best buddy for that last-minute workout, and the adjustable strap keeps them secure on the go.

6. LNDR Defence Jacket

Not only is LNDR’s uber-luxe sportswear great-looking, it also includes integrated tech. This jacket is constructed from a Swiss fabric designed to improve cycling and running, with water-repellent fabric, multi pockets and reflective/glow-in-the-dark details, it’s your guardian angel for those evening runs.

7. New Balance Fresh Foam Zante v3

New Balance’s Fresh Foam trainer aims to satisfy your need for speed. The lightweight shoe has added bounce, in theory making those miles easier to tackle. The trainer is cut like a boot for a snug fit and available in three different colourways, while the design is a nod to their iconic styles from the Eighties.

8. Ellesse Recycled

Ellesse’s Recycled collection, including this L’Aerobica vest, is made out of recycled polyethylene terephthalate. The collection draws on the idea that the plastic bottles you use in the gym can be recycled and transformed into your workout wardrobe. How to feel extra saintly about your workout...

9. Sweaty Betty Thermodynamic

There’s no excuse for dropping out of that cold early morning run with Sweaty Betty’s Thermodynamic range. This run top is made from thermal temperature regulating fabric designed for cooler weather, and the insulating fabric has a fleecy feel. There are also reflective panels and long sleeves with thumb holes.

10. Nike Auralux Training bag

Banish the supermarket carrier bag: a well-packed, organised holdall will help make light work of working out. Nike’s Auralux bags have clever compartments to separate your clean clothes. There is also a dedicated spot to store a toiletries bag and a space to cradle your yoga mat.
