Tailored tweeds to embellished luxe

tk-hero1.jpg

TK Maxx buyers Adrian Edwards and Emma Churchill champion fashion trends that are continents apart for autumn/winter. With trends that take their inspiration from the English countryside through to the mysteries of the Far East, which looks will you be wearing this season?

English Heritage

Adrian Edwards, Senior Buying Manager:

It’s all about the English Heritage trend this season and that means one thing - tweed! This look is so classic and versatile - it will look as good on the city streets as it does on country walks.

For separates it’s all about sporting jackets, wax coats and coloured bottoms. Gilets are also key to the strong English look and great for layering. Look for details such as elbow patches and quilting to add interest and invest in some sturdy winter boots – classic riding styles will see you through many a winter.

For a more fashion-driven look, think nerdy seventies/eighties geek chic for a cool retro feel. Patterned knitwear is central to this style, so hunt down Fair Isle pieces, tank tops and novelty jumpers.

The Empress

Emma Churchill, Womenswear Buyer:

Separates are back with a vengeance for the Christmas party season and the exotic Empress trend will really help you make a statement. If you thought that bold and bright jackets were the sole preserve of spring/summer fashion, think again: This season, as well as warm and practical winter jackets, statement pieces come printed, embellished and crafted from luxurious fabric and there’s no such thing as too much! Pair with printed trousers for a directional look.

This trend is all about fabrics and opulence in all forms. To make the look wearable, make sure the shapes are quite simple, whether it’s a well-cut trouser, a shell top or sheath dress. Let the fabric do the work for you.

Jacquard is also key to this look and we’ve found some beautiful examples, with amazing textures and fantastic weaves in skirts, tops and jackets from designers and brand owners all over the world.

TK Maxx has great brands at amazing prices. Their savvy buyers travel the world and deal direct with designers and brand owners to bring you the best deals. For more trend inspiration, watch the new TV autumn/winter campaign below.
