The £59 wedding dress has arrived

With the average price of a wedding coming in at £18,000, we're always ready to leap upon news of nuptial-related bargains.

So the announcement today that high street retailers H&M had created a wedding dress priced at just £59.99 was music to our ears.

The gown in question, pictured below, is a glamorous vintage-style creation that takes its inspiration from 1930s Hollywood. The white column design comes with a black embroidered flower detail around the neckline, a cinched empire-line waist and a calf-length skirt.

It's the first time H&M has branched out into wedding dresses, although the store has created a line in bridesmaids outfits in the past. Other brands such as Coast and Topshop have carved out a niche in high street wedding wear, in a move that's been seized upon by bargain-hunting brides. So it's great to see H&M throw its hat into the ring as well.

Take a look at the dress, available this month, below and let us know your verdict in the comments section or on Twitter @stylistmagazine.
