This season fashion is almost a literal representation of what’s going on outside. The sun is less elusive, blossom is flourishing and fresh coloured flowers are brightening the land and cityscapes. Suddenly our sartorial choices are blooming.
Tap into the trend with Boden’s new collection that pays homage to botanical prints in its standout designs. Choose the Marilyn Dress to channel fifties Hollywood glamour with its oversized azure florals. The Abigail shift dress is more understated; in a dove grey and neon yellow floral print, team with the cropped cashmere cardigan in corn yellow.
Boden’s spring/summer colour palette is also redolent of the outdoors. The emerald hues of the Broderie Ponte and Matilda dresses represent grassy lawns. Coral pinks and washed-black blues have aquatic roots and the ‘Beach Front’ playsuit features retro seaside sketches.
The brand’s classics also return this season. The Breton Stripe Top and Bistro Cropped Trousers are true fashion perennials. In fact, Boden is so passionate about its most iconic designs it has devoted a new campaign to them. ‘The Importance of Being Boden’ showcases the items that sit at the heart of the brand’s hall of fame.
Here, our five fashion bloggers give us the insider secrets on their picks and styling tips from the ‘Importance of Being Boden’ campaign (www.boden.co.uk/beingboden). These are the crème de la style crème of Boden’s quality designs.
Boden's classic pieces are the building blocks of any great wardrobe, in my mind. You can't go wrong with a simple Breton top (seriously, is there any circumstance it's not perfect for?) and I remember seeing elegant women wearing Bistro crops when I was around 13 or 14, and thinking 'One day, that'll be me!' I don't know that I'm nailing the elegant part just yet, but the Bistro crops are helping! They're amazingly versatile, and work just as well with a chunky knit jumper and pair of masculine brogues as they do a lightweight blouse and dainty ballet pumps. In fact, I'm finding it tricky to resist picking up a pair in every pattern and colour-way to see me right through the coming months…

My Boden piece of SS14 has got to be the beautiful Nancy dress (paired with a classic cashmere cardi, of course). If the fact it's inspired by a genuine 1940's print doesn't have you at hello, it's gotta be the fact it's massively flattering on any figure (plus supplies ultimate Mad Men sassiness) and is uber versatile for warmer and cooler times of the year (or, ahem, week)- just add tights and a pretty car coat- sorted!

I was recently asked to pick an item from the current Boden collection as part of ‘The Importance of Being Boden campaign. I'm a huge Boden fan, so selecting something from one of my folded down catalogue pages didn't take long. The item I chose was 'The Shirt', which comes in a range of gorgeous colours and prints. It's a great classic piece with all the usual quirky Boden details. And it's versatile enough to wear to the office or on a country stroll - from office to countryside.

Boden always comes out with numerous hero pieces each season and as soon as I saw these Bistro Crops, I knew I had to have them. The print is just so striking! They got quite a reaction when I posted them on Instagram and as per usual the fit is amazing. Whenever I wear something jazzy on the bottom half, I like to balance it out with a logo sweatshirt or simple tee and I love that you can wear these with strappy sandals or even retro trainers. They’re the perfect cheery transitional piece even if it’s raining outside.

The Importance of Being Boden celebrates Boden’s all-time greats, such as the Bistro cropped trousers (I have a worryingly large collection), the Breton top (erm, ditto) as well as the cropped cashmere cardigan. And you can see why this is a classic: great over dresses or cute buttoned up with pants, not to mention softer than soft and in a rainbow of colours – perfect for a thin-blooded, colour junkie like me. I can feel another collection coming on.
