In a chic town house on the Upper East side of New York City (which once featured in Sex And The City), Victoria Beckham unveiled her fifth collection at New York Fashion Week. Venturing away from her signature structured dresses, a looser draped silhouette was revealed alongside a new “desert brights” (as Victoria calls it) colour palette of greys, saffron yellow and magenta.
Stylist’s favourite looks were a scarlet swing dress with a rippling graduated hemline, a saffron yellow maxi dress with pleated folds and a gathered high neckline, a three-quarter sleeve cocoon dress in a rich blue which hit just above the knee and a green snake print floor-skimming dress which will no doubt imminently be on the red carpet.
Also making their debut for autumn/winter are Victoria’s take on winter coats - think ladylike chic funnel-neck coats with buckle detailing in a vibrant red or muted grey – and Christian Louboutin for Victoria Beckham rich scarlett, grey and black suede and leather boots. And not forgetting the bags, which sold out in record timing for spring / summer, have been updated in vibrant red and orange with the introduction of a more casual duffle-style slouchy bag.
And who does she want to see in her designs? Our very own princess-to-be Kate Middleton. Expect a sell-out stampede as soon as the collection hits stores later in the year.
