Westwood does weddings

Although it met an ill-fated end, the most memorable outfit in Sex and the City history was without question Carrie's gorgeous Vivienne Westwood wedding gown. Now, a dream wedding dress from the grande dame of British fashion can be yours, as she launches her latest collection at The Luxury Wedding Show London.

Extended to feature 20 styles, Westwood brings a much-needed rock'n'roll edge to the bridal world with her wedding dresses. Each made-to-measure gown is beautifully feminine, but they all still bear the classic Westwood hallmarks of corsetry, crinoline, immaculate tailoring and draping.

The punky lace dress in pillar-box red and ruffled pink taffeta creation are clearly made for those who want to stand out on their big day. But there are also more dreamy, romantic styles, with swathes of satin draped beautifully around the bust - perfect for blushing brides.

So what to expect from your big day if you wear a Westwood? That's best summed up by the Grand Dame herself: “My clothes allow you to project your personality, and are quite theatrical in the sense that they are real clothes, well-designed, and they give you a chance to express yourself. They are also inviting–people respond to them and want to come and talk to you”.

Whether you've popped the question or not, take a look at some of our favourite dresses from the collection below.

Vivienne Westwood’s latest Couture and Bridal collections will be presented at the premium-wedding event “The Luxury Wedding Show London”, hosted at the Saatchi Gallery on 22-23 October 2011.
