Cat lovers may soon be able to grab a purrrfect cuppa in a café-meets-cat playground in the capital.
Feline fan Lauren Pears plans to open a British version of Japan's cat cafés in east London.
The venture, named Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium is "about coming in from the cold to a comfortable wingback chair, a hot cup of tea, a book, and a cat," Pears said.
The entrepreneurial cat lover is working with animal welfare charities to re-home unwanted felines and says her idea has been approved by the Food Standards Agency, animal wardens and licensing officers.
Pears hopes to see the fur-friendly establishment open in March but there is one glitch - she has raised only around a tenth of the funds needed to launch the venture and is appealing for donations.
If you'd like to take tea with a clowder of cats, contribute to Pears' café dream through crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo.
It's unlikely to have a rodent problem, will never run out of milk and offers guaranteed cuddles, but would you visit a cat café? Let us know in the comments section below or on Twitter.
