Chanel’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Paris Ready-To-Wear show proved one of the most exciting of the season and the previewed a new, somewhat parculiar way to wear jewellery – over the eyebrows.
Not only was it distinctly, impressively bold – a million miles away from their sweet-toned hues and grown-up chic- but the embellished brows were one of the most daring of the season.

"The inspiration for the makeup look came from a few key words and a sketch that Karl Lagerfeld provided," explains Peter Phillip, Chanel’s Creative Director of Make-up. "Minerals, shading and eyebrows were the key words and the sketch showed a face with stone-lined eyebrows."

And whilst each season of make-up reveals a completely re-imagined brow - ranging from bleached and arctic to luscious and thick - it’s the most pivotal look we’ve seen since Dior’s 2011 Spring Haute Couture show, complete with neon red eyebrows and matching crimson lips.

"I worked with the Maison Lesage to create sets of embroidered eyebrows," says Phillip, of his bejewelled creations. "Each eyebrow consists of an anthracite gray sequins and pearl base, embroidered with several sorts and shades of mineral stones and crystals."
Intrepid brows might not be the new high-street (although, perhaps in Dalston) but we’re certainly fans from afar.
