Forget the Hollywood Walk of Fame or a five-star limousine service - the sign of true stardom comes when you are immortalised as a banana.
Both Prince William and his new wife Kate Middleton have received this unorthodox badge of honour thanks to the efforts of Japanese artist Keisuke Yamada.
The 23-year-old used a spoon and a toothpick to carve out the faces of the royal pair from a couple of bananas (above, photos 1-3).
"l am used to sculpting weird faces and ghouls, but trying to capture the features of Prince William and Kate was a fun challenge," Yamada explained. "I hope they will be flattered by my tribute to them and I wish them a very happy marriage."
And Kate and Wills aren't the only stars to get the banana treatment - Yamada has also attempted the face of Elvis Presley (above, photo 4) as well as a rather dashing dragon (above, photo 5).
However, anyone expecting this to be a permanent tribute should prepare for disappointment. Yamada routinely eats the bananas after photographing them - making them the world's most transient yet delicious form of sculpture.
